Getting Started
How does Instyll work?
You save notes from books, podcasts and articles. Instyll reads your calendar, and when one of your notes fits an upcoming event, it sends you a Moment before that event starts. Do it enough times and the behavior stops needing the reminder.
What's a 'Moment'?
One of your saved notes, attached to one calendar event, with a specific action to try in that situation. It arrives before the event starts.
Do I need a specific calendar app?
Currently, Instyll works with Google Calendar. More calendar integrations (Outlook, Apple Calendar) are coming soon.
Using Instyll
How many Moments will I get per day?
Two to five on a normal day. Instyll only builds one when a note genuinely fits what is on your calendar, so a quiet day means nothing was worth interrupting you for.
Will every calendar event get a Moment?
No. Most events won't get one. If an event gets nothing, none of your current notes were a close enough fit. Adding notes tagged with specific contexts improves the matching.
When will I receive notifications?
Before the event starts, and you can change how far ahead. Enough time to read it and think about it, without pulling you out of whatever you are already doing.
Can I control which events get Moments?
Not directly, but you control the inputs. Add notes for what you want to practice and tag them with contexts like '1:1s', 'Presentations' or 'Team Meetings'. The matching works off those tags.
What if I don't want a specific Moment?
Tap 'Not Helpful'. That feedback shapes what you get next.
Learnings & Progress
What makes a good learning?
Something specific enough to act on, tagged with when to apply it, and worth practicing more than once. 'Ask why twice before offering solutions', tagged '1:1s' and 'Management', works. 'Be a better leader' does not.
How do I know when I've 'completed' a learning?
When you do it without needing the reminder. Mark it 'Completed' in the Learnings tab and Instyll stops building Moments for it.
Will the same learning appear multiple times?
Yes. The same note comes back in different situations over weeks or months. That repetition is the point, and it is what separates this from reading the note once.
Can I see past Moments?
Yes. Each note shows every Moment it produced and how you responded to each one.
Privacy & Data
Does Instyll read my calendar data?
We only read event titles, descriptions, start/end times, and organizer info (to match learnings). We NEVER write to your calendar or access your email content. Read-only access only.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can delete your account and all associated data from Settings.
